Confidence gone. Energy drained. Desire missing. I know those feelings well, and if you are reading this, you probably do too. Midlife can feel like betrayal by your own body. Sleepless nights, mood swings, a sex drive that seems to vanish overnight. You start asking yourself: “Is this just ageing… or do I actually hate everyone?”
Here is the truth: it is not all in your head. It is hormones.
The Identity Meltdown Nobody Talks About
When I sat down with Resha Ruddock, Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetist and founder of Zenluxe Medspa, I asked her when she first felt as if she was disappearing from her own body. She shared that it happened after her second child. The energy was gone, her face looked different, and even though she was only in her forties, she felt as though she was ageing overnight.
That is exactly what so many of us experience. We think ageing means fading, but it does not. Hormones shape more of our mood, energy, and confidence than we are told.
“I just felt like I was never going to be my old self again.” – Resha Ruddock

Beauty, Stigma, and the Botox Whisper
One part of our conversation that made us both laugh was the stigma around Botox. Why do so many women whisper about their appointments as if they were confessing a sin?
Resha explained that there is nothing shameful about wanting to look refreshed. I agree. Ageing gracefully does not mean sitting back and doing nothing while your face collapses. It means taking care of yourself as you age.
Aesthetics are not about vanity. They are about wellness, confidence, and being at peace with the woman you see in the mirror.
“It does not mean you do nothing. It means you care for yourself as you age.” – Dr Charmaine Thomas
Libido, Hormones, and the Hard Truth
Let us be honest: libido is one of the hardest topics to talk about, but it is one of the most important. So many women in midlife feel “broken” because their sex drive disappears.
Resha reminded us that women lose testosterone too, often faster than men. The culprits are stress, diet, and declining hormones. The solution? Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). It is not luxury medicine. It is necessary care.
Just as our episode’s candle, Confidence by Wicks by Grey, was lit during this recording, the reminder is clear: reclaiming your confidence is not optional. It is essential.
We even talked about men. Andropause is real. Mood swings, energy dips, and testosterone loss affect men as well, but they rarely want to admit it.
“Women are not broken. They are hormonally imbalanced and deserve help.” – Resha Ruddock

Reclaiming Confidence Without Shame
One thing I admire about Resha is her honesty. She tells her clients exactly what she uses herself, because she knows it works. That is how I practise too. I believe women should know they are not alone.
Reclaiming your body does not make you selfish. Wanting to feel beautiful again does not make you vain. Seeking help simply makes you human.
Confidence is not a luxury. It is a form of medicine.
“Reclaiming your body does not make you selfish. It makes you human.” – Dr Charmaine Thomas
Why This Episode Matters
Midlife is not the end of the story. You did not lose yourself. You gained perspective, self-awareness, and the right to say, “I deserve to feel like me again.”
This episode reminded me that beauty and wellness are not separate categories. They belong together. When we stop apologising for wanting more, we give other women permission to do the same.
“We love our bodies. We just want a little enhancement.” – Resha Ruddock
